Returning: The Cleaning Lady

US series had to deal with loss of an actor during third season production.

Season 3 of The Cleaning Lady returns to FOX One tonight.

However this season production also had to deal with the loss of actor Adan Canto who tragically died of appendiceal cancer in January, aged just 42.

The third begins with Arman (Adan Canto) nowhere to be found. As Thony (Élodie Yung) and Nadia (Eva De Dominici) start to search for him, they become more and more desperate to find the man they both love. This journey leads them both to exploring Arman’s life in a way they typically wouldn’t, starting with a visit with his estranged parents in “Arman.”

Showrunner Miranda Kwok told TVLine. how they responded to a cancer diagnosis during production.

“We had to, of course, pivot when we found out he may not be able to join us. So there are actually several episodes where we’re searching for Arman, and we were hoping that we would ultimately be able to bring him back on the show,” she said.

“It was very carefully thought out and discussed so that we could tell the best story we could that would also honor him and allow our other characters to process his absence.

The season 3 premiere has an opening card that dedicated the season to Canto, calling him “our beloved friend.”

8:30pm tonight on FOX One.
