SBS VICELAND has dropped TVNZ 1News At Six from its weekday broadcast*.
The bulletin screening at 5:10pm weekdays is now replaced with repeats of Wine Lovers Guide To Australia.
This follows discouraging news from across the ditch where TVNZ announced plans to cut nearly 10 percent of its staff, a week after news rival Newshub said it was closing altogether.
TVNZ said it planned to axe 68 jobs from a staff of around 700 after posting an operating loss last week of NZ$4.6 million (A$4.29 million) for the second half of 2023.
US entertainment giant Warner Bros Discovery said it planned to shutter New Zealand outlet Newshub in June, with a reported loss of about 300 jobs.
TVNZ 1 News at Midday still screens at 12:05pm.
Updated: SBS VICELAND advises it is out due to scheduling conflicts.
* Monday’s episode was still available at SBS on Demand.

TVNZ was a monopoly public broadcaster that was wholly advertising funded. It’s clear Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and TikTok are the victors.
As a Kiwi in Australia,. I didn’t even know that Viceland was screening it.
Ditto (although not an Un Zudder). There are many odd bits and pieces stuck in all over the SBS channels and their schedules.
