When Whoopi Goldberg asked an audience member to stop filming

“Sir, I have to stop you with the camera," Whoopi Goldberg told an audience member.

During an episode of The View host Whoopi Goldberg halted filming to ask an audience member to kindly stop filming the show on his phone.

“Sir, I have to stop you with the camera because I can see you. Do me a favour: Don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you,” Whoopi asked.

Filming of television shows is a big no-no in studios (same goes for Australia) but Goldberg kept her cool with a polite request. Audience members are also asked to switch phones off.

The View no longer screens in Australia.

You can see the moment at 3:00 mins.

  1. Not unrelated, but I remember being at a theatre watching a play here in Melbourne. The show stopped 3 times because of audience members filming. I mean …. come on.

As a Hot Seat audience member, we had to surrender our phones altogether. In fact, you signed a document making you liable if you took any recordings or even divulged anything about the filmed episode.
On Tipping Point and The Hundred, you can keep your phones but must have them turned off – and you also sign a legal document not to blab about the show.
The crew keep an eagle eye on the audience and there are several cameras pointed at the audience so I’m not sure why it was Whoopi who admonished the audience member – the crew must have fallen asleep!

  3. It’s a pity more a lot more people don’t get the hint…it happens wherever you go…people thinking it is okay to film or take pictures of you…even worse posting on social media sites without permission…or consideration…there’s always something or someone on the news bulletin every night that someone has posted on socials…privacy is becoming a thing of the past.
