Longtime Seven exec Michael Pell has departed the company the network has confirmed.
In a statement, Seven said: “Michael Pell has left the company with our best wishes. He has been a wonderful executive, a trailblazer in breakfast TV, and we appreciate his work over a long period of time.”
Pell was Executive Producer at Sunrise until 2022 before moving to a US based role as Senior Vice President, Entertainment Content, North America. He led Sunrise for 11 years.
The Sydney Morning Herald this week has published a number of claims around several Seven execs and staff ahead of the departure of senior management.
Asked about an SMH editorial on Spotlight on Tuesday, a spokesman for Seven chief executive James Warburton told The Australian: “The recent allegations about Seven are unfounded and untested, and we have disputed them. People should always remember that The Sydney Morning Herald is owned by Nine, a direct rival to Seven, so it cannot be regarded as independent.”
