Report: Nine staff press management

“After failing to pay us on time, how does the company intend to show its employees that it cares about us?" asks one Nine employee.

An all-staff meeting on Wednesday led to some staff unrest according to one media report.

Crikey claims staff were given the opportunity to submit anonymous questions and highlighted a selection.

One employee asked: “After failing to pay us on time, how does the company intend to show its employees that it cares about us? We feel betrayed and need to be shown care, not told.”

Another asked: “How can Nine expect to retain employees when they pay well under minimum wage?”

One complainant working on the upcoming Olympics, for which Nine holds the broadcast rights, grumbled: “We are told the work we are doing is the most important in the business for the Olympics, but [we] aren’t even provided with Macs that can handle the development!” It received 19 likes from other staff — as did another question asking that “employment opportunities be made more transparent”.

“There is very little room for growth and I feel like I have no choice but to leave and I don’t want to,” the employee wrote.

Nine declined to comment.

  1. Gees Nine, I used to work for you back in the Sir Frank days. Never happened. Lady with a tray of envelopes, pay receipt book to be signed did the rounds. If you missed her (out or on late shift) go to the office. Staffed ’til 7pm. Even Centrelink manages to pay a day or so early when public holidays are involved.
