Returning: Blue Lights

Six part Belfast police drama is fast-tracked to SBS next week.

Season Two of UK drama Blue Lights is fast-tracked next week to SBS.

The six part Belfast police drama stars Sian Brooke (Good Omens, House Of The Dragon, Sherlock) and Martin McCann (Last Sentinel, The Frankenstein Chronicles).

It also premieres in the UK next week.

Grace, Annie and Tommy are growing up fast as police officers, but nothing can prepare them for the turmoil they face every day. It’s a year since the fall of the McIntyre crime gang and the vacuum has been filled by rival gangs, all competing for dominance. Constable Shane Bradley is drafted in to help, but his motivations are unclear. Tommy is dangerously seduced by the world of intelligence policing, while Grace struggles to deal with her son’s absence, and growing feelings for fellow officer Stevie. As a young loyalist threatens to take over the city, the officers face a major gangland feud – culminating in a violent and devastating confrontation.

Thursday, 18 April at 9.20pm on SBS.

  1. Fingers crossed that this holds up to the first season. It was excellent. Nathan Brammell as Tommy was a new face on television who really impressed me with his character work. One of my picks for best new show on tv last year.

  2. This is a good little show and while I haven’t watched many of the Irish shows on SBS, they seem to be having a bit of a golden period of drama at present. Thank God for SBS as it at least has some worthwhile drama on its on demand streaming service.
