“Thanks for the Memories, Blackers!” -so says a billboard tribute to the late John Blackman, which has appeared on a street in Port Melbourne.
A loyal TV Tonight reader spotted this one, which is a lovely tribute to the late Hey Hey funnyman who passed away earlier this month.
It’s not clear who is behind it, but it’s a very nice gesture.
A private funeral for Blackers is planned for Sunday June 23 but a link will be available for public, to be revealed later.
Updated: Three billboards have been mounted by Rock Posters (Port Melb, North Melb and Sydney) and follows similar tributes to Tina Turner, the anniversary of Bon Scott’s passing and another to wish Barnsey the best in his health battle.
Marcus Seal of Rock Posters told TV Tonight, “John gave millions of Australians a laugh and we thought this was the least we could do.”
Well done, guys!
