Sarah Greenhalgh joins Seven News Brisbane

After so much upheaval, Seven announces a new face for Brissy news desk.

Sarah Greenhalgh will join Max Futcher as anchor on Seven News Brisbane following the departure of Sharyn Ghidella.

Greenhalgh has most recently featured on 7News Spotlight.

She has been with Seven for a decade, spending the last five years as a foreign correspondent, winning Walkley and Kennedy Awards and a TV Week Logie nomination

The Courier Mail reports the Brisbane-born journalist, will join Futcher from Monday, 21 October.

Her appointment follows significant upheaval in Brisbane with Sharyn Ghidella’s sudden axing by Seven, later recruited by Erin Edwards for 10 News First. But Edwards was subsequently poached and set to return to Seven. Also having departed are news director Michael Coombes, weather presenter Paul Burt, news operations manager Craig Dyer plus various wo news camera operators, technical support staff, a news producer and other behind-the-scenes staff.

Greenhalgh will continue with 7News Spotlight.

  1. A strong, talented and credible reporter, but quite untested as a news anchor, especially to be sat in the 6pm chair. Will be interesting to see how the audience responds.

    1. Yeah, either Katrina Blowers or Samantha Heathwood probably would’ve been a smarter choice as a new weeknight co-presenter as both seem to have a bit more name recognition in the SEQ market than Sarah Greenhalgh.

Then again, Seven News have made a few weird decisions of late: Letting go of Sharyn Ghidella, taking Mark Ferguson off Sydney’s presenting bulletin for six weeks only to have him return to a co-presenting position with Angela Cox…
