  1. Does anyone actually know the 7plus app isn’t on the Foxtel box? I find it funny they say they are the leader in set top boxes but they don’t have 7plus

    1. Foxtel collected apps for the IQ: iView, On Demand, Now, Tenplay, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon, Paramount+, Vevo, YouTube, YouTube Kids, ABC Kids and F1. Anything they could get their hands on. Obviously they could not get Seven to agree. Foxtel is moving to Hubbl now, they have licenced a Smart TV system used by Comcast and Sky UK.

  2. I just noticed Law & Order: Organised Crime s3 is airing, tonight at 10.50pm. Not sure if it’s aired on FTA before & I missed it. I just checked & all episodes are also on 9now.

    1. It was the first episode of S3, which aired back in Sept 2022 in the US. Ten has shown part 2 of this story which was the S24 premiere of SVU. The final episode was in Law & Order S22, but I don’t think anyone is airing recent episodes of that.

      1. 9 have been running repeats so I was lucky to see that it was series 3 starting last night, alsoI hadn’t seen it mentioned here. I prefer to record FTA & skip the ads, rather than watching on the commercial streamers, if I can avoid it. L&O s21-22 is on Binge & L&O: SVU s24 is currently being repeated on Ten, so I can finally watch the crossover episodes properly.

    1. Today Discovery was reported to have been in talks with Paramount Global about a possible merger or acquisition. Combining Max and Paramount+ would give them the scale to compete against Disney+ and Netflix. A merger would also give them control of the NCAA Basketball Championships to compete against ESPN, and boost Discoveries children’s programming.

  3. Love the image doing the rounds overnight of Holly Candy (neé Valance) alongside former TV Mum Janet Andrewartha, reportedly in the UK, while the latter is visiting for a “Prisoner” reunion. And while watching a new “Neighbours” ep no less. Bravo! Oh the nostalgia. While the former character did not last long (unlike on-screen sister Stephanie) depsite some very memorable storylines/moments, the latter did, with Lyn Scully going from 1999-2006 and returning late 2009-mid 2011 as well as a number of brief guest returns in-between all that including about 4 years ago.

  4. I watch quite a few things on 10….currently on there all night….But….I dont know how much more of ‘Gladiators’ I can take, it is relentless…it does not starts until Jan. 15th…OMG.

    1. I’m surprised you remembered that date considering the advert hardly airs!
it is always my beef this time of year, constant promos for shows starting in Jan or Feb and they usually go for 3 months. By the time they start I have viewer fatigue and don’t want to watch them!

  5. If you watch the end of last night’s ABC news Victoria 7pm news the newsreader blows a kiss to the viewers at the very end , he’s done it afew times I’m not sure if this is professional journalism ………or not….

  6. David, or anyone, any idea on when the 2023 xmas special for all creatures great and small might air on britbox? Also, what are the chances of the series being renewed for S5 in 2024?

  7. For all fans of the band The Triffids and their lead singer/songwriter David McComb out there, I hope it’s not too late to mention SBS Viceland is showing the doco “Love In Bright Landscapes” tonight at 8.30pm, I’m hoping this will be great. Not sure if this is the first time it’s been shown on free-to-air.

  8. David I’m aware you’re currently on hiatus but could I please have more information about special programs for ABC’s Taking 5 With Zan Rowe and Hard Quiz that’s airing next week? What are influencers?

    1. Take 5 is listed as 2.7 Best of Take 5. Influences are people who get rich on social media spreading misinformation for money and contra. The ACCC has gone after some of them, the Government misinformation laws should also target them.

  9. In one of the last eps of the UK ‘Ghosts’ that aired last night, it was revealed why the Captain’s medal ribbon bar was upside down-this had puzzled me from the 1st ep as a British made show should have the knowledge to get that sort of costume detail right. The explanation didn’t make sense though as the 4 medals were not bravery or distinguished service awards and he would have been eligible for 2 of them in any case even if he hadn’t seen any service outside the UK. Only the ribbon for the 1939-45 Star had been created/awarded at the time of VE Day celebrations so no one should have been wearing the others. I do wonder what the real explanation was.

    1. They bought a set of ribbons and they were accidentally put on upside down in the pilot. They maintained that for continuity then created an explanation at the end. It not something they would have thought up 5 years ago.

  10. Is 7+ trying to drive away viewers? I understand the need for commercials to help fund it, but seriously.. a three minute commercial break when I hit resume on a 35 year old episode of Home and Away I wanted to continue watching? Instantly exited the app and found something else to watch.

    1. 3 minuites is lucky, if their ad server is understress it can take 5-6 minutes to watch the three minutes of ads and sometimes it fails and replays the entire ad block, or jumps back the beginning of the episode. I competed today’s Cryptic during the ads in one episode of a show on 7plus. Nine is worse.

  11. maybe if the site owner did a post about why 7plus isnt on foxtel iq5 it could capture foxtels attention and they would invite 7plus to be on the iq5 unless 7 is the one who doesnt want to be on the iq5. im sure im not the only one wondering about this

    1. With respect I file on these things at the time of launch, not as an ongoing topic. Over time I’ve learned neither party likes to go on the record much about the costs involved and / or capacity. When / if these things become available I usually advise readers.

    2. This is the personal blog of David Knox…..therefore he can post what he likes….
We are visitors to his house and should be respectful. We read, we comment…I would not think of telling him how to run his own blog. Also networks do follow this blog…
Perhaps you should direct your inquiries to the relevant parties, I imagine they have social pages.

    3. It is 7 that refused to allow 7 plus on the IQs, part of Wharburton’s agenda to control viewing. Nine allowed their app on IQs only with 2 factor identification tied to an existing Now identity, with which I never manged to get working so it effectively didn’t exist and I never streamed anything from Tenplay. I only ever used iView or On Demand on the IQ before I cancelled the subscription. These days I record or stream FTA and watch it on my laptop, desktop or tablet depending on where I am. I have only been turning the lounge room TV on to watch a few ABC dramas and Ghosts, live sport and some old VHS tapes, while I still have working VHS machine attached to it.

      1. I have way more than I can watch on FTA and their streaming platforms…..I find no need to pay to watch TV…..Only thing I miss is F1….but not paying for Foxtel for one program…

    4. Can’t you just access the 7+ app from your TV? Every modern tv is preloaded with the broadcasters apps. Like others stated, 7 and Foxtel need an agreement, they clearly haven’t which can be for a multitude of reasons.

      1. Not Hicense Smart TV’s which is very annoying – I Have a Hicense Smart TV and have no idea why they don’t have the App and you can’t download Apps either because they’re is no set up

  12. i actually prefer watching neighbours on amazon because they show the closing credits and closing theme music and no ads. its a shame channel 10 doesnt air the closing credits like they used to last year.
while im on a rant i feel that foxtel need to get 7plus onto their iq5, its the only FTA streaing app thats missing, whats stopping them?

    1. Same for 10Peach. No closing credits there either (unfortunately). As soon as they show us what’s happening next time on Neighbours, usually something dramatic to entice us to tune in next time, and bam, its time for another endless repeat of Friends, and ruins the flow….

  13. When the story emerged the other week about FTA channels not being happy with where their apps are placed on new TV’s, I honestly thought it was a filler or slow news day type story. Now I see 2 or 3 ads per hour about the issue. I know the TV makers aren’t paying for the air time, so who actually is??

      1. Freeview TV, though it seem rather pointless since they have already won. The biggest FTA streamer, as they keep reminding us, is iView which has no advertising and is sitting it out and SBS is second. Nine has so much repetitive advertising and promos on Now that it deters viewing.

  14. Any word yet on a Last Year of Television with Mitch McTaggart for 2023 to be shown before the year is through? Apologies if I have missed any announcements.

  15. Please tell me the list of names for the poll on Eurovision are suggestions and not the real list? I always thought the competition was about giving new acts a start, not giving those that have already “been there and done that”, a potential career re-start…

    1. While there are new acts that compete on Eurovision, there has been a few that had a revivial such as Katrina and the Waves (they had a hit with “Walking on Sunshine” in the 80s and later won Eurovision) and John Lydon (better known as Johnny Rotten) attempted to qualify for Eurovision with the song “Hawaii”. So it is actually the best of both worlds, so established artists, while rare are not unusual at Eurovision.
