  1. Anyone noticed that there seems to be new graphics on the ABC News channel today? The colours haven’t changed but it looks like there’s a different font and some of the boxes have changed size now. Did that start today or a while ago?

Disappointing to see Perth news anchors not wearing masks in studio as per lockdown rules. Reporters in the field are wearing masks as required.

      • harrypotter1994

Yet government public health advice says you have to wear masks when you leave your house.

If it’s to do with the deaf community surely they can have someone signing in the studio or turn subtitles on.

        • Umm…you do realise you can’t get it via watching someone on TV without a mask and unlike the old days there’s virtually no one in the news broadcast studio apart from the presenter-all automated now.

        • Even during Melbourne lockdown, Melbourne news anchors or hosts of shows like The Project have never had them.

Duties relating to broadcasting are exempt from masks as far as I know.

          • Broadcasting was exempt in Vic, workplaces aren’t in WA. Maybe it’s due to the strain. I haven’t checked if Broadcasting is exempt in WA.

    • Not required to wear masks when delivering messages as it can make it difficult for people with disabilities. Closed captions may not cut it for some people.
You’d see that anyone talking at the multiple press conferences a day across the country they remove their mask before talking.

  3. So here’s the thing, we just won lotto and we are looking to move to an idyllic, safe and picturesque village, but we only 2 options. Am I moving to Cabot Cove or Saint Marie??? I know there has been more cop work completed in Cabot Cove, but I don’t recall ever seeing a gun, even on the cops in Saint Marie. So where do we go…

  4. I notice the times for IACGMOOH final are from 7.31 – 9.08PM ,is this actually direct live or pre recorded as this is bound to go over for sure ,just curious.

  5. A very poor night’s viewing on FTA-everything well repeated or very mediocre or both.
On another note, how old is Ducky from ‘NCIS’ supposed to be? I haven’t watched it on any sort of regular basis but one of the identifiable medals he was wearing on his dinner jacket tonight was from WW2 British service before May1943!

  6. I’m not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but, what are people’s opinions on which show will win Monday? (Holey Moley, MAFS, TARau).

    • unfortunately MAFS is gonna kick arse- but I love TARAU, so I will be watching that, and Holey Moley seems like to stupidest show- so won;t be watching, recording or streaming it.

    • Judging by social media posts, I think Amazing Race will be the surprise winner overall. Many people posting that they will be watching it. Generally people see MAFS as old and tired andHoley Moley as another version of Wipe out. Lots of comment that it is apparently long and dragged out! With Covid restrictions expect travel shows to be the big winners as we look to escape

      • There’s only a handful of actual reviews out so the “lots” of comment you suggest aren’t exactly first hand. Viewers should at least try for themselves. Social media doesn’t always match OzTAM as we’ve seen many times before.

    • I think MAFS will definitely win it easily with Holey Moley second and Amazing Race a tight third. MAFS if just one of those shows that you try hard to not want to watch but just can’t help yourself lol

As australia doesn’t as yet have the HBOMax streaming service, and prob unlikely to due to rights for tv shows and films already taken by other services – 1 question. The zach snyder cut of the Justice League film, any idea on who might nab the rights for aus? Foxtel and there Binge service? Stan or Netflix? Any idea on who might end up airing it is after the 18th March?

  8. Interesting to see Law and Order SVU get 342k & 313k with time shifted viewing added the past 3 & 2 weeks eps which is good to see and pretty sure these eps didn’t start till 9.30pm because of Celeb which makes it more impressive and shows celebrity must have had some SVU Fans watching

  9. rage’s broadcast of Triple J’s latest Hottest 100 is very disappointing as Thelma Plum’s great Powderfinger cover, Flume’s remix to Eiffel 65’s Blue and Dan Andrew’s Beers 🍺🍻 song won’t be played.

  10. I have read that over 125 new originals are coming to European Sky and Now TV subscribers in 2021 as the company announces its biggest line up of TV shows and movies.
Sky plans to more than double its content by 2024. Source: Sky.
There should be more shows coming to Foxtel / Binge if Sky plans to release one premier per week by next year.

have to LOL at nine programmers, Croc Dundee, again on for the upteenth time in the past 12 months. I think they only have The Castle and Croc Dundee in there film cupboards.

  12. The old saying when it rains it pours is certainly true when I put in my recordings on the PVR for next week. So many shows to record, trying to juggle recordings was a bit of a nightmare. Hope none do an early start because I am starting them right on time as I couldn’t do my usual 5 min buffer.

    • Oh I hear you, I have been successfully churning through lifestyle on my PVR and some other dramas. But next week, there is more than another across multiple channels and at multiple times.
I think I am going to struggle with 3×90 minute TARA in addition to the two Travel Guide specials (never saw this before, but it was lighthearted and funny) other shows like The Weekly, Back Roads, After Taste. While Harrow the week after. Plus the existing lifestyle I watch when I feel like it!?!

  13. A huge shout out to CH 10 for showing everyone that the over run is unnecessary BS, as evidenced during this season of IAC. From memory, with the exception of the 1st episode, every subsequent ep has finished within 3 mins of the scheduled time. If only other networks could follow this lead…

      • I do respect the rare event of a prime time program having consistent start and finish times and the EPGs being quite accurate.

However Sunny is right that the episodes are very long indeed and often quite low on content. The average two hour episode will contain one challenge during the first hour and the rest of the content is mostly the celebrities sitting around in camp talking – and certainly not intellectual discussion to expand the mind or soul.

Judicious editing would be desirable on most of the recent episodes I have seen. It is telling that the eliminations have been scoring fewer viewers than the rest of the episode. People are giving up, turning off and going to bed.

      • Happy to disagree. Loving the show at two hours long especially when there is little else on.
Some people will never be happy though and will complain at the smallest things.
Just be thankful we have the show at all this year.

        • Thanks Loz, all for a variety of voices… there hasn’t been any conflict this year which is a challenge for storylines. But I could have done without Paulini putting rocks under her top as content and left it on the edit room floor! It’s not an issue exclusive to IAC, our networks are spending less to deliver more hours.

          • The recipe for conflict is easy – reduce their food. If they made the challenges harder, thus not allowing them to get maximum stars every time, you would have more fights than on an episode of WWE..

          • Dipper has certainly caused some conflict with both Abbie and Grant, even threatening Grant at one point whether that was joking or not you still don’t do that.

          • A few minutes in the scheme of season, but not a storyline. A lot different to Mundine vs Danny Green, Laurina vs camp, David Oldfield vs camp, Steve Price discovering Nazeem… main storyline this year seems to be group harmony, Ash / Abbie / Pettifleur triangle.

        • By all the above accounts (including David himself), it’s too long and there’s pretty much nothing they don’t include-10 hardly deserves credit for being able to schedule it vaguely accurately.

      • If you google ‘Hunted Season 4 Foxtel’, you get a TV Tonight article of 5 July 2019 that says Hunted Season 4 is coming to Fox 8. Hence it would appear that the showing on 9 February 2021 will be a repeat, that at least some people will have seen before.

  14. Just read the WWE Network is shutting down in the USA:

“Beginning Thursday, March 18, WWE Network will exclusively be available via NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock. The standalone WWE Network streamer, which launched in February 2014, will in turn shut down in March as the content moves to Peacock.”

  15. It’s a shame that channel 7 aren’t showing the last 3 games on Australia Day , Kayo has it of course and Foxtel but would have been a good idea instead of an old telemovie at midday ,could have called it the Australia Day Triple Bash or something catchy.

    • Foxtel had exclusive rights to the game, and Cricket Australia banned any mention of Australia Day (which the PM critisised and for which he was attacked by Nine and the ABC) and would have preferred that there were no matches on the 26th at all, which is what their Aborginal consultants wanted. This was compromise that suited nobody.

  16. I’ve just watched the new primetime American version of The Chase, and like most US adaptations of successful international formats, its a pale imitation. However, the one different element I did like and wish the UK/AU versions would pick up, is they have the other ‘Chasers’ not playing sitting in a room watching and commenting as the game goes on.

Especially given The Beast and Governess probably aren’t going to be able to film Australian episodes anytime soon in studio, it might be a good way to keep them involved, as it could be filmed remotely and after the game is recorded (and their commentary poking fun at the Aussie Chasers would be delicious no doubt!)

  17. Maev....Sydney

    America In Colour 2:00 pm……
I watched the last half hour of this on SBS CH.3 today….Monday 25th..
For the life of me…I cannot find the episode on their catchup….or anywhere else…
Given that SBS has a bad record of changing the titles of programs…does anyone know the actual name of what was shown…it is just the small portion of the McCarthy trials I want to rewatch ?

    • Hello Maev,it is America in Color that episode I believe is the first season 4th episode titled the 1950s ,they started at the 20s and went to the 60s ,they are interesting and I’m sure they’ll return later on and there are 3 seasons in total.

    • A follow up Maev ,that was season 2 episode 6 titled Hollywood’s Golden Age ,I think I remember where the movie stars were fronting up to the House of Un-American activities to be grilled by Senator Joseph McCarthy

    • The synopsis in the epg matches “Hollywood’s Golden Age” episode (ep6 of s2) of “America in Colour”. SBS Ondemand webpage for series shows s1 available until Feb 14 & s2 until Feb 24.

  18. Russel T Davies strikes again!
I watched the first two episodes of It’s A Sin and it is ace. Ollie Alexander (and indeed the entire cast) are superb with special mention to a showy Neil Patrick Harris. We’ve seen plenty of AIDS dramas over the journey, but Davies imbues this one with earnestness, punctuated by a pulsating 80’s soundtrack. It just feels fresh… helped by the lively performances of the main cast. However with all dramas pertaining around AIDS, there’s always a sinister, devastating undercurrent to proceedings. And there are gut punches here…

I can’t believe the strike rate of Davies and his dramas. He is a visionary master storyteller.

    • I agree. Russell T Davies is a master storyteller. I’ve seen the first 2 episodes as well and a couple of scenes were devastating. What those boys went through was terrifying and inhumane. The hospital scenes have extra gravitas in our current situation although gay men with AIDS had little sympathy at the time often from their own families which is borne out in the series.
There is still an upbeat optimism about the series and you cheer for the main characters as they find their tribe and form their own fractured family. I hope I remember this when I vote for best International show.
