Returning: Heroes

Seven is set to screen those two, and only two, leftover episodes of Heroes‘ second season.

They will air at 9:30pm Wednesday August 6.

The third series doesn’t hit the US until September 22, leading to the obvious question: why isn’t Seven running these later and following into the new series?

The answer is simple.

Seven is set to fasttrack Heroes’ third season, subtitled, “Villains.” It will be quite a departure from the most recent plotlines and both NBC and Seven want to ‘refresh’ the series.

Some key actors will also be visiting Australia to promote the show. That’s difficult to do when Aussie viewers are still watching the old series. A decision was agreed to consciously put some space in between the two series, in order to give it every opportunity to start fresh.

  1. I just started getting into heroes around a month ago. First season from dvd, second from internet. In fact, watched the season 2 final tonight. The holdoff from heroes is nearly 2 months more than prison break, and i thought that holding prison break off for 6 months was insane, especially a departure from their so called ‘fast track’.

Ideally, heroes this season: USA 22 sep, Aus 23-24-25 sep, and that difference til the end of the season. Any more breaks where the USA doesn’t and the deal is off 7. Same for prison break. I noticed that PB and heroes have the same time slot this fall in the USA.

  2. yep and as soon as seven sets an air date the dvd release is confirmed, the dvd of season 2 will be out october 1st. makes it pretty obvious that the only thing causing the delay was channel 7.

  3. I think it’s fair to say everyone learnt a lot with the first year of fasttracking, and nobody could have anticipated the writers’ strike.

It wasn’t perfect performance by any network and never has the phrase “damned if they do, damned if they don’t” been so apt.

What we must look to is how they tackle their second bite of the fasttracking cherry.

  4. Saw the last two eps via downloading last year after 7’s stupid decision to hold them. They’re bloody great and finish the season on a multitude of cliffhangers. I gotta say I think Sylar is the scariest tv villian ever, and Zachary Quinto is brilliant.

  5. Boring!

    Saw them already. LAST YEAR.

I don’t trust Seven’s “fast tracking” any longer and will download season 3. They only have themselves to blame.

However, season 3 had better be an improvement on the incompetent shambles that was season 2, or that’s one more hour I get back a week.

  6. Too little too late Seven. Should have kept screening these until the end of the series.

It Really narks me that networks treat us like idiots. In today’s electronic world, you don’t leave episodes in the can. Ten also did it with Burn notice. I don’t think there will be too many people watching these “new episodes”.

Having said that, kudos for fast tracking the new series. A week or two I can wait. Just do not take a break for the non ratings period or I will not be coming back with you.

  7. good to see it is coming back, they should have just played it till the end back in november, who cares if the australian ratings period ended. now loads of people would have already downloaded it and since it is just 2 episodes in isolation people who aren’t all that with it probably won’t realise it is on. hopefully they will advertise it heaps to try and get some decent ratings, as i would hate to see these 2 episodes doing badly (as they should due to 7’s treatment) affect their plans to fast-track season 3.

  8. So why the hell didn’t they air the last 2 eps sooner, like at the end of last year? More than 8 months was a stupid move by ch7, I bet most fans tune is jsut to remember what happened 😛

  9. Smartest decision they’ve ever made then
‘Villians” looks like being an amazing season, and im really excited that Seven has decided to fasttrack it again

Plus NBC is going with a non-stop 2-half season, so they could possibly rap up the season by early December….Heroes has the chance to be a real force once again for Seven, and a re-boot is necessary

good to see their planning to keep Heroes around 🙂
