Bumped: Prison Break, Scrubs.

There's good news for Scrubs, but bad news for Prison Break fans.

Update: Prison Break now out. Scrubs stays at 11:30pm.

Seven is swapping the start times for Prison Break and Scrubs from Thursday November 6.

Scrubs will start at 10:30pm while Prison Break is pushed back to 11pm.

Last week Prison Break managed a lowly 389,000 viewers. Now in its fourth season the show is struggling to uphold its premise -so far there isn’t even a prison on the current series.

  1. I don’t understand Prime’s reasons for Prison Break – the reason ratings were so low was because you had it on way too late. It is one of the few shows I actually make sure I try and catch. Please out it on at a more suitable time.

  2. I need to know if channel 7 are going to be airing rest of Prison Break series 4?? Couldn’t find it screening anywhere since Thur 30th Oct, whats happening??

  3. I tell you what Prison Break never gets dull at all one of the finest series I have ever seen, very cleverly put together just a shame how Channel Seven haven’t promoted it at all from season 2 basically, they dropped it after massive hype on season 1 where everyone was obsessed

  4. Channel 7 needs to wake up to themselves, do we really need to see shows like Bones twice a week? Prision Break would more than likely rate better if it wasn’t on so late, it has been on longer than Heros (which is a waste of air time) therefore it should get the earlier time slot. At least shows like Dancing with the stars are put on Sunday night (when pay TV is worth watching). Come on Channel 7 wake and get better with the programing time.

  5. Channel 7 suck. They change programmes all the time. Scrubs is stupid and we all want prison break on at a decent time. take off other shows such as dancing with the stars. Thursday is the only night there is anything decent on channel 7 and they continue to still stuff that up.

  6. Channel 7 have gone about launching this new season of prison break all wrong. There was minimal advertising to let fans know that it was returning and then they change nights to a thursday which is generally not a good viewing night as people shop, go out etc. And to boots its on at 10.30. I am certainly “not happy jan” about it being put on even later…Im a die hard fan and will stay up and watch it, but 7 isnt my choice of channels at the moment….

  7. I enjoy Prison Break, but can see its lost its mass appeal though.

TV networks should give shows a chance. It seems you get into something, if its not rating 1,000,000 plus, it is moved or shelved. In the old days, shows would stay in their time slot and audience would build. Channel 7 have had this problem with Thursday nights in particular ever since the Olympics.

Maybe this is why subscription TV is growing? A show that is put on say Thursday 9.30, remains at Thursday 9.30 for the whole season. Easy to plan, you know your show is on at a certain time for the whole season. With free to air, it changes every week!

No wonder they are pushing TIVOs which you can program to record a series even if they change times!

  8. Why hasnt any1 brought up the fact that Heroes performing terribly at 9.30. 785k to 706k to 696k has to have some blame. While Prison Break is just below 400k every week, keeping consistant viewers. I think Channel 7 dont care with PB and are just pleasing loyal fans but fast-tracking the show.

  9. massive scrubs fan and i wouldve been delighted except that i already watched the new eps, but since i never really got into prisonbreak i cant say im devatsated

perhaps during the summer (or now seeing as they’ve won the ratings for the year already) they could give some of their late night shows a chance to build audience.

james- i like your ideas. 30 rock/scrubs hour and family guy-american dad hours seem like they could fit well. they may not give scrubs a go as theres only 1 season left after the one their currently screening (probably) but surely they could find something (king of the hill?) as you said it worked for 2.5men

  10. Funnily enough i only started watching in S3, i wouldn’t mind seeing 1 and 2 now.

The change doesn’t bother me as i fast track it myself.

I reckon the problem is about
20% – waiting so long to show it, people download it
45% – air time, its hard to get into such an involved show at that time
35% – for some reason people don’t like the new story

  11. I can never understand why TV stations even bother with some shows. Try to give it a decent primetime slot, give it some damn advertising and respect viewers that audiences don’t always flock to a show just because you put it on.

Look at Channel 9, after yanking Two and a half men around for a large period of time it finally become a hit. Why? Because Nine gave it a decent slot. Let an audience build and saw it develop into one of their biggest hits. I mean come on Channel 7, give Thursday night to an animated block with King of the hill, American Dad and Family Guy. Try working comedy blocks like 30 rock, Scrubs and maybe pick up the under-rated Monk. Ten hasn’t shown it in years. And please Seven bring back some decent afternoon shows.

It seems strange they bother to even buy these shows when they have no chance of developing itself.

And is it just me but couldn’t networks try pushing a few more repeats for more of its shows.

  12. It might as well be axed 11pm dont they realise ppl work…. staying up till 12am pfft no wonder so many people download it these days.. it needs an 8 30 or 9 .30 time slot
