Tom Williams joins Surf Patrol

A more logical choice Surf Patrol could hardly find with Tom Williams to present the third series for Seven.

tomwA more logical choice Surf Patrol could hardly find with the announcement that Tom Williams will be presenter for the third series.  The Great Outdoors presenter is also a former surf lifesaver (which is probably when this ol’ pic was taken).

Yesterday Williams was also reported to be filming segments for The Great Outdoors which may air as a special later this year. He is also set for New Idea TV.

Meanwhile, the official comments are confined to the surfing observational.

“I’m really excited to be working on a show that profiles these everyday heroes,” he says. “I’ve been involved with surf lifesaving for 16 years. I spent five of those years patrolling and have been in some of the situations seen in the series. I also live at the beach and am there every day.

“Surf lifesavers give up their own time to come to the aid of beachgoers in extraordinary circumstances. Surf Patrol is the true stories of these iconic Australian volunteers who do a fantastic service for their community.”

Dan Meenan, Channel Seven’s head of factual programming, said: “We are delighted that Tom Williams is hosting Surf Patrol. He inserts a new perspective and incredible passion into an already strong franchise. Thanks to Tom, Surf Patrol will remain the number one show where all the action takes place on Australia’s most cherished resource – its beaches.”

Narrator for the second series, in case you can’t recall, was Naomi Robson.
