Whale of a heart for Leisel

Olympic swimmer Leisel Jones makes her first foray into television with a message on whale conservation for kids.

Leisel Jones_Save Bubbie Save A Whale_HROlympic swimmer Leisel Jones will make her first foray into television by encouraging kids to learn about the protection of whales, dolphins and their environment on the Cartoon Network. Jones’ recently returned from Portugal where she helped promote the World Society for the Protection of Animals during the International Whaling Commission.

‘Save Bubbie – Save A Whale’, interstitials will air during the animated series The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack -a cartoon about a boy called Flapjack and his wise-talking blue whale friend Bubbie.

Jones said: “Being a swimmer I’m very passionate about marine life and whale protection in particular. I’m so excited to be working with Cartoon Network on taking the whale conservation message to kids with the Flapjack ‘Save Bubbie – Save A Whale’ campaign.

“By teaching kids about whales now, and bringing them to life through animation, we will hopefully save more whales in the future.”

Her appearance marks the first time an Australian celebrity has fronted a Cartoon Network series. She will premiere on Cartoon Network on Monday August 24 at 5.30pm.
