Kanye West hijacks MTV Awards

When Taylor Swift won an MTV award, rapper Kanye West leapt onstage and made his views known.

kwMTV Music Video Awards are frequently known for being controversial.

But an awards ceremony had never quite seen anything like rapper Kanye West who leap onstage during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me.”

“I am really happy for you,” West said. “But Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

West later apologised on his website. “I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom,” he wrote. “… I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!”

You think?

Beyonce eventually won Video of the Year for her single “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and said, “I would like Taylor to come out and have her moment.”

All class, Beyonce.

  1. I felt Kanya West was very rude, It was embarrasing. I am not a fan of him anymore with his arrogant ass. That was very lady like for Beyonce to call Taylor Swift back on the stage. Kanya would not like it if someone did that to him.

  4. The guy is just a tool, total and utterl tool. I felt so sorry for Taylor Swift, she is a really young girl, for someone like her, who is a country star, to win a mainstream award is a Huge achievement and something she would never expect in a million years – so for him to take that moment away was just appalling. Beyonce was all class, but still, she was visibly upset, reports state that both her and her mother were really upset backstage. Kanye – Just a complete moron. But what do we expect, he had done it many times before – one of the European awards shows he got up when he lost and stole the microphone from the winner stating “I spent a million dollars on my video! Where is the love?”

  8. Everyone wins, Beyonce & Taylor both increased their fanbases, Kanye got the attention he desperately craves & people are actually talking about the VMA’s like they’re relevant again.

    david will channel 10 be showing this years VMA? i really hope they do because i thought this years was very memorable including gaga’s performance which was the headlines of Ten News.

  14. Kanye makes his career out of being a toolbag, remember George Bush doesn’t care about black people? Somebody should have punched him out, it was rude and Taylor was shocked (not a fan, but she didn;t deserve to be interrupted).

    Full marks to Beyonce (also not a fan), she was pure class, as opposed to the crass that Kanye is known for…
