Australian-made rules Week 20
Flagship shows including Underbelly, Masterchef Australia and Australia's Got Talent all performed for Nine, TEN and Seven -but it was Nine that won Week 20.

Australian-made television dominated our viewing last week. 8 of the top 10 were local productions, and 14 of the top 20, with Aussie-made also taking the first 7 places. Flagship shows including Underbelly, Masterchef Australia and Australia’s Got Talent all performed for Nine, TEN and Seven.
By Saturday, Nine and Seven were closely tussling for a win in Week 20, but Nine edged ahead with its mix of Nine News, Funniest Home Videos and the movie Hairspray to take out its fifth week since the end of Easter ratings.
Nine Network won with 28.5% over Seven’s 27.7% and TEN’s 21.8%. The ABC had 16.8% and 5.1%.
Nine won all three key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.
In digital channels GO! was 3.2, 7TWO 3.0, ABC2 1.7, ONE 1.4, ABC3 and SBS TWO both 0.4.
Nine won Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Saturday with Seven winning Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Nine was first in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane with Seven again winning Adelaide and Perth. The ABC bettered TEN on Saturday night.
Top show of the week was Underbelly on 1.64m viewers.

@ miller T1 – i agree although for advertising purposes they need to be excluded as they are a 1 off sporting event. But for all other purposes they should be included and you’ll find they are in some end of year calculations.
@MillerT1 I think you are right. If we went down this path, would we then need to exclude the Comm Games Weeks? Excluding major sporting events that only occur every four years is only really relevant from a media buying perspective with annual negotiations.
I know that some people exclude the Olympic weeks at the end of the year, but I would include them. They are official ratings survey weeks.
It’s not like it’s unfair to the other networks. All the networks have a chance to bid for the rights to the Olympic games anyway. If you don’t get them, bad luck, that’s the business.
Including all official ratings weeks, this would mean that Nine are beating Seven 8-4. Some people think that Seven will be able to make up these weeks in the second half of the year and I think they will and Nine shouldn’t be worried. Nine should remember that this will probably end up being the best year for them, since they lost their reign to Seven in 2007. They should be happy with their improvements and continue to improve.
It hasn’t really been mentioned much but it’s interesting how Deal or No Deal is now regularly getting beaten by Hot Seat. Quite amazing considering how many different game show formats DOND has managed to beat off in the 5.30 slot.

So David how do we stand 7 vs 9 in total weeks won? it must be close with Nine’s streak of wins.
If you exclude two for Olympics (and some could argue you should exclude 4), Nine has six, Seven has four in official survey weeks.
Anyone konw – are more people watching TV per week on average since the multi channeling started?

by excluding the masterclass figures from the weekly average MC figures look alot better than last weeks
sneaky move from ten separating masterclass from the rest of MC so it is harder for people to notice that it dropped almost 100k this week. great figs for MC Mon-Thurs though.
