I’ve always been curious about these award shows. The Emmy for outstanding drama series goes to General Hospital but then the two leading gongs for Actor and Actress go to completely different shows. And it gets weirder. Emmy for Outstanding Writing goes to the team at The Young and the Restless. Wouldn’t logic say that if General Hospital won the major award then the other gongs would follow for the same program? I’ve noticed the same occurrence happen at the Oscars. I’d like to know your thoughts on this David.
Acting gongs going different ways is readily understood, but it is harder to quantify writing or directing gongs awarded to shows other than “Best Drama.” Oscars Best Director usually aligns with Best Film, but not always. I reckon it comes down to different juries for each craft categories. As to the jury make up of Best Drama or Best Film that’s less clear and would depend on each organiser.
