Network bosses are Canberra-bound

Free to Air and Pay TV bosses are headed to Canberra, in a major show of support for media reform.

Free to Air and Pay TV bosses are headed to Canberra, joined by commercial radio and print media chiefs in a major show of support for media reform.

David Koch will MC an industry summit on Wednesday with speakers to include Malcolm Turnbull and Communications Minister Mitch Fifield.

In attendance will be TEN CEO Paul Anderson, Nine Entertainment Company CEO Hugh Marks, Seven West Media CEO Tim Worner and Foxtel CEO Peter Tonagh. Regional news bosses are also expected to attend.

Also speaking are News Corp Australia executive chairman Michael Miller, Fairfax Media chief Greg Hywood, and Macquarie Media executive Adam Lang.

Both Labor and the Greens remain opposed to changing the “2 out of 3 rule” that prevents a single person controlling more than two forms of media in one city.

Senator Fifield said, “It needs to be treated as a package. If it isn’t, the industry won’t stick together. If you break it up, you’re favouring one organisation over another.”
