Kerry’s days were fun days

They were “fun” times when Kerry Packer was running Nine says former Sunday producer Tom Krause.

Writing an article in today’s Australian, Krause gives an interesting insight into the generosity and flow of dialogue between employer and employee.

“It was fun under the Kerry Packer and Sam Chisholm regime,” he writes.

“If you worked hard for Channel 9, they treated you well. (I was treated very well.) And if you kept your head down, it didn’t get knocked off.”

Krause goes on to give some the network some advice on building employee relations including:

-“that heads of departments and executive producers have a drink (it can be non-alcoholic) and a chat with their employees at the end of the day.”
– “let all employees know regularly where they stand as far as their personal status is concerned.”
– “take the staff to lunch at least once a month.”
– “treat all employees as you would want to be treated.”

  1. The sam kind of thing is revealed in the new book by Gerald Stone … “Who Killed Channel 9” … a must read for anyone interested in TV. It is so clear how the once great Network has been destroyed by businessmen without a passion for television … and they are still at it! Top of the best seller list … can’t hide the truth now Channel 9!!!!
This is exactly why their much promoted new drama, Sea Patrol, is such a half-assed effort!
    Jack!
