Airdate: Parkinson

The ABC will screen the final ever series of Parkinson from Saturday October 27.

The legendary interviewer will retire from television, lamenting that chat shows are less about conversation these days than entertainment.

Parkinson told the Radio Times: “Mine’s the last of the classic interview-based chat shows. The rest now are just comedy shows. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not what I do. So this is it. I’m done.”

In his final series, Parky will chat to Sir David Frost, Billie Piper, Jennifer Lopez, Diana Rigg, Annie Lennox, Michael Palin, James McAvoy, Harry Connick Jr, Colin Firth and more.

He has earmarked David Beckham as one of his wish-list interviewees, who this week returned to the UK to attend to the health of his father.
