Official: Writers’ Strike begins

No last-minute deal could be crafted between US film and TV writers and their employers despite 10 hours of negotiations on Sunday.

The Writers’ Guild of America is now officially on strike.

All Guild-covered work under the MBA ceased at 12:01 a.m. EST on Monday, November 5, 2007.

Picket lines will now commence at such locations as Sony Pictures Studios, Rockefeller Plaza, Paramount Studios, NBC Burbank, Disney Studios, Fox Studios and CBS Television City.

The WGA advises its members:
“You may NOT pitch or negotiate with a struck company.
You may NOT provide writing services, sell or option work to a struck company.
You MUST notify your representatives, such as agents, to cease negotiations on your behalf with struck companies.
You MUST perform picket duty.”

  1. That’s really their slogan? That’s almost as quaint as all those indecipherable terms (“skein”, anyone?) that Variety can’t get go of 🙂

  2. Show me one screenwriter who still uses a pencil and I’ll show you a time machine, David 😀

Meanwhile, standy for recycled Alias scripts on “Bionic Woman” 😉
