Rove back in 2008

Rove will be back in 2008, just don’t tell anybody yet.

This news was slipped surreptitiously onto his official website earlier today.

So far that’s the sum total of the news.

But was rovedaily.com.au too early with the news? It hasn’t been officially released by TEN yet.

In fact, following TV Tonight leading with the news today, and after a TEN spokesperson reaffirmed there has been no statement on a 2008 season, the Rove site then took the news down. Could it be the show will shift to another channel?

McManus’ contract with TEN had been up for renewal and his last show aired on Sunday. Boosted by a good guest line up he finished the year on an up note of 1.36m viewers. Industry talk had speculated over whether the Logie winner might try his luck in the US.

UPDATE: TEN has now confirmed Rove McManus is now back, with a two year contract.

Kindly link to this website when sourcing or posting in messageboards, thanks!

  1. Why don’t channel 7 think of a different footy show themselves, they have the money and some support for it, why not make it happen. I guess they want to take other personalities from opposing stations to make their show more better.

Sadly if channel 7 does in fact gets the rights to broadcast Before the game, I won’t be watching.. It won’t be the same like how it is on 10, how it has always been

  2. Message is missing now on the website….I believe the writer’s strike (still on in US) has stopped plans for him to go there..it will be good if he’s on TV here.

  3. Rove might be back but will he be back on TEN. Seven have been keen for the last few years and might make a very big pitch this time for his service. Now that would be interesting given that Roving Enterprises make shows for Ten besides ROVE.

Before the Game would be a perfect fit for Seven who are keen to do a footy show but don’t really have the resources to do it.
