Today springs into Melbourne

Dropped into the launch of the Today show’s Melbourne Spring Carnival visit tonight.

All the team was there: Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson, Georgie Gardner, Richard Wilkins, Steve Jacobs, Cameron Williams and Hollywood goss guy Richard Reid.

Reid was charming. He is visiting Oz for the first time and is in Melbourne until Wednesday. He’s been having a great time getting to know his way around. I told him he should see the Priscilla musical, which was playing across the road! Richard had heard good things about the show.

The Today show has been winning regularly in Melbourne, and is close to taking the city for the first time in 4 years.

Also had a great chat with programmer Len Downs and yes, Survivor: China is coming back the first (Updated: non-ratings) Saturday evening in December in a 7:30pm slot. We were both commiserating over the struggles of Damages too. A great show, we both hoped a second season would be approved.

I had a lovely chat with newsreader Georgie Gardner (seems we both studied at the same university), and she was rapt to be visiting Melbourne again. Georgie was also intrigued at the idea of blogs and promised to stop by!

Others in attendance included Megan Gale, Livinia Nixon, Tony Jones and Andy Lee was a late arrival

The Today show will broadcast from Melbourne until Cup Day.

  1. Yes, I was thinking same thing!!

    I had a feeling it would be shown over christmas.
    And finally at a reasonable time – im not one who likes watching tv past 10:30pm usually (especially without CC) and missed the last entire season thanks to the way ch9 had treated it.
    Looking forward to it now!!!
