A coughing fit struck ABC’s Sydney newsreader Juanita Phillips last night, causing the ABC to take a live feed from the Melbourne newsroom.
The Sydney newsroom’s evening chief of staff, Simon Johnson, said “It was just a tickle and it was a little distressing to her considering she was in the middle of a live bulletin. I can see her now and she is laughing about it.”
He denied she became upset during a story on the funeral of journalist Matt Price.
Phillips returned to the bulletin by the end, adding, “I’m happy to say we fixed our technical problems and a glass of water seemed to do the trick,” she said.

If she was about to cry, I don’t see why they would have to cover it up. Journos are human too you know. It wouldn’t make me think less of a professional she is.
I thought she was about to cry too and I was thinking “Awkward”.
