Booted TT reporter hired by TEN

Network TEN has hired Nicholas Boot, the reporter sacked by Seven after his Today Tonight story about a woman chained to her nursing home.

Boot will join the Sunshine Coast bureau in February. He has been given a chance by TEN News Boss Cathie Schnitzerling.

“What I wanted on the Sunshine Coast was an experienced reporter, and Nicholas is very experienced, knows the area and he is renowned for being a hard worker,” she told The Daily.

“I decided all of that far outweighed the poor publicity he has had in the past.”

Ms Schnitzerling said she was confident Mr Boot would make the adjustment from current affairs to local news.

“I did go through that with him at length,” she said.

“He did work in the region for seven years before he joined Today Tonight. He has a young family and has family in Queensland.”

Schnitzerling will also move to Sydney to run the TEN bureau at the end of the month.
