Wanted: ‘Adult kids’ & their parents

SBS is looking for Sydney-based adult children who live with their parents for a new observational series.

The unnamed series is being put together by Freehand Productions (Honey We’re Killing the Kids, Missing Persons Unit, Celebrity Joker Poker, Outback Wildlife Rescue). Three families will be asked to take on new routines and roles with assistance from expert advisors.

The notion of parents and kids living together is also the subject of Seven’s upcoming drama-comedy Packed to the Rafters.

Press Release:

Are you a Mum or Dad and your adult children still live at home? Or are you in your mid 20s to early 30s and still living at home with your parents?

SBS is on the look out for three Sydney-based families from a variety of cultural backgrounds to feature in a new social reality series that will go to air in 2008.

The series will be shot over the course of a ten-week period and will examine the phenomenon of Generation Y adults who have never left home, and the Baby Boomer parents who let them stay.

The three chosen families will be asked to step out of their comfort zone for the duration of the filming and take on challenging new routines and roles with the assistance of expert advisors, in this world-first observational documentary series.

Freehand Productions will be producing the series for SBS and are also responsible for producing the first international version of the BBC hit motoring entertainment show, Top Gear.
