Chaser nominated for world TV award

The Chaser’s War on Everything has been nominated for a prestigious television award in Europe.

The Rose d’Or Festival in Switzerland received nominations from 402 programs from 34 countries around the world. It has been recognising world class television since 1961.

The Chaser’s War on Everything (ABC TV, Australia) is one of ten programmes nominated in the comedy category alongside Star Stories (Channel 4, U.K.), Modern Toss (FremantleMedia Enterprises, U.K.) and Fonejacker (Channel 4, U.K.).

The U.K. leads the pack with 31 nominations including nods for J.K. Rowling—A Year in the Life (IWC Media, U.K.), Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Tiger Aspect Productions, U.K.), Skins (E4, U.K.) and Jekyll (Hartswood Films, U.K.) which premieres this Sunday night at 8:30pm on ABC1.

Up for the special award for Best Entertainer are Billie Piper for Secret Diary of a Call Girl (U.K.), James Nesbitt for Jekyll.

From the USA, LIFE (NBC Universal TV Distribution, U.K.) has been nominated in drama.

Game shows scoring nods include DNA (Distraction Formats, Canada), Power of 10 (Sony Pictures Television International, U.K.) and Who Dares Wins (BBC, U.K.), along with five others.

Ben Silverman (The Office, Ugly Betty, The Biggest Loser, Kath & Kim) will be awarded an honorary award.

The Rose D’Or takes places May 2 – 6 in Lucerne, Switzerland.

  1. “The Librarians” has also been nominated!! In the Sitcom section. Aunty must be pleased – the only two Aussie nominees were part of her bumper Wednesday night line up.
