Nine denies paying streaker

Channel Nine news boss John Westacott has labelled a Daily Telegraph story stating this week’s Gabba streaker received $7500 from A Current Affair as “absolutely untrue”.

Westacott said the story which stated Robert Ogilvie was paid $7500 for an interview, was incorrect and no money had changed hands.

“We’ve been guilty in the past … but not this time,” he said this morning.

The Telegraph story stated Ogilvie, who ran naked onto the Gabba pitch on Tuesday during a cricket match between Australia and India, had made a $6000 profit from the act, after copping a $1500 fine in court but allegedly making $7500 from ACA.

  1. I was wrapped India won, a lot of die hard beer drinking long time Aussie cricket team supporters cant stand our current Aussie cricket team. Unbelievably arrogant and you would think by there attitude they cured cancer. The last two games of the series were great as it was good to see the underdog win and to send a message to our cricket team that there not the gods they think they are.
ANd on top of that, it seems like the Aussie team is more hell bent on making money than playing the game, a certain commentator said the same thing in so many words on the first nights game.
You have to admitt, the Aussie members arent exactly “picky” about what product they lend there name too… KFC, Castrol, Rexona, Chocolate, Pizza, Alcohol, automobiles, soft drink, sports gear, charities, supermarkets, chemists…..
I guess there rational is that they only work four months out of the year and must make every cent they can.
A very good man once said “When you become famous for the thing you do best, and they throw money at you, your life becomes about making money, and not the thing you love”
Symonds needs to get over himself.

  2. I saw the interview last night, its was very short and they were trying to turn him into another Cory “what an idiot” type of character that was designed to spark outrage amongst viewers.
For these current affairs shows to try turn every person (and mainly males as the show is aimed towards women in the lower to lower mid class)just shows they really are desperate for ratings, there motives are more see thru than ever.
    Did they pay him?
    Yep
You cant try turn someone into a social villan unless you cover your butt and make sure they dont fire back.
The thing is the guy handled the interview very well and they failed in there efforts to turn him into another dumb male.
Another interview they aired was the one about the guy who through the rock of a bridge and hurt the young lady driving, he was sentenced to two years and they had her on and were trying to get her to bag the court system for the “light” sentence. She handled it great and didnt give ACA an inch.
