  1. David, do you know what series of Hell’s Kitchen nine are going to be showing in Melbourne tonight? Food Channel(Foxtel) has shown 2 or 3 series of HK, is the one they are airing tonight, the latest one or one of the ones already aired on Food?

    Cheers

  2. All of the new shows haven’t fared well with the writer’s strike. This week’s DSM was the last ep the US has seen too. It has been renewed for another 13 for the Fall season but hasn’t been the hit Seven wanted. Hard to see them fasttracking it this year, but maybe at a 10.30 timeslot?

Adam the online site provides more info than a 5min guest spot and is available to access 24/7. Sometimes highlights are merely given further in advance (ie. I wrote about Dannii and the woodchopper in AGT days ago even though it’s on tonight). That said it’s good to know there is still interest in viewing highlights and to remember not to overlook this. There’s a lot of celeb goss stuff I ignore because it isn’t news, but I don’t see it as an either / or situation.

Thanks for Southern Cross HD info, will keep my eye on this.

  3. David, how many more episodes of Dirty Sexy Money season 1 are there? 7 don’t have any further episodes to air, right now, when will we see further episodes? Surely the episode they aired tonight was not the season finale???

  4. David…I think you have got lost in the world of blogging and totally forgot a small but major part of what you used to deliver…what is on ‘TV Tonight’
Thats is what you had called your radio program and delivered just that. Now what is on ‘TV Tonight’? I used to love hearing what was on and I just realised you dont ever mention this sort of stuff. ‘Entertainment Tonight’ fell the same way. Now just reports crappy celeb news.

    Adam

  5. Survivor: Would u believe I asked again as recently as today? No word.

Heroes: 2 eps remain unaired. Not official, but don’t expect them before S2 late in 08.

Sarah Jane: Think ABC has it will check.

Torchwood: Bound to go to HD I agree.

Las Vegas: Was pulled here well before US. Hasn’t sustained a strong enough following. S5 has 19 eps. Don’t hold your breath…

  6. Has Channel Seven shown those last two new episodes of “Heroes” yet? Or are they going to make fans wait until Season 3 starts in the US? That’d make it something like 8 months between episodes meant to be seen a week apart!

And has any local station looked at the rights for the Doctor Who spin-off “The Sarah Jane Adventures”? I suspect Torchwood series two will be a “straight-to-HD” show, but I would be happy if ABC (1 or 2) picked up Sarah Jane.

  7. hey dave
since las vegas has been cancelled mid-season in the US, could that be a reason why channel 7 still has completed season 4 and what was recorded of season 5?
Because i really wanna know how…what was recorded…ends
    cheers

  8. thats the one, cheers.

I’m not too sure how long they’ve been doing this for, just noticed it tonight during some channel surfing.

PRIME seem to be inserting local weather updates over the top of the TT ones, for which I assume Seven pre-record local inserts for each metro market. I only noticed it because Anna said “after the break, tomorrow’s weather and a look at tomorrow night’s show”

  9. dave, I recall you doing a post on the practice of Today Tonight and ACA telling their viewers what was “coming up” after the (final) ad break only to just give a quick preview of the next night’s stories.. i didnt find it on a quick search but i notice TT is now doing weather after the final ad break..

    TV Tonight: Making a difference!

  10. I’m wondering what the future is for Corner Gas (shown on SBS)?

The show was moved to Sunday morning and throughout the second season, wasn’t shown at the same time two weeks in a row. I’m not even sure if the 2nd season was finished?

  11. David, the BBC series Rome premiered on Showcase tonight, do you have any idea on which version they aired? I believe when nine showed it last year it was edited or cut.

  12. Mike: And people thought our networks were bad! Yes I did come across that nutcase story.

Rudi: My take on Sinchronicity finale is that you can opt in or out of whichever ending works for you, as was the style of the show I guess. No surprise they chose to end on an up note. I have no specific details on the “true” ending but see what others have to say at:

  13. David thought you would like this story from BBC News – strange???

    ITV drops Pushing Daisies episode

Pushing Daisies was nominated for three Golden Globes in the US
The second episode of Anna Friel’s hit US drama Pushing Daisies will not be screened by ITV, it has emerged.

The UK broadcaster bought the rights to the entire nine-part series, but only has space in its schedule to show eight programmes before Euro 2008 begins.

Viewers will skip straight to episode three of the modern-day fairytale, about a man who brings people back from the dead – including his first love.

Episode one brought 5.7 million viewers to ITV1 on Saturday night.

“Episode two was the only show we could drop without spoiling the storyline,” an ITV spokesman said.

    Repeat showing

The missing instalment sees lead character Ned coming to terms with his power, interspersed with flashbacks to his childhood – including a school lesson where he was expected to dissect a frog.

As with the first episode, it was directed by Men In Black and Addams Family film-maker Barry Sonnenfeld.

However, ITV said the programme would “be shown at some point because the series will be repeated”.

The broadcaster said its decision was due to the US writers’ strike, which meant only nine episodes of Pushing Daisies were made.

The series has made former Brookside star Anna Friel a household name in the US.

It won her a Golden Globe nomination for best actress, although she was beaten to the prize by Tina Fey, who writes and stars in comedy series 30 Rock.

A second series is due to start filming later this year.

ITV and the BBC will split coverage of the Euro 2008 football tournament, which begins on 7 June.

  14. Hi David,

Is there any accepted wisdom about the “real” ending in Sinchronicity?

    (warning: possible spoiler ahead)

The last episode had more versions of the chain of events than you could shake a stick at; but I’m guessing because the end credits were accompanied by scenes of Nathan and Fi only, that we should assume they got together. Can you shed any light on this from a media kit information or other source ?

    Cheers.

  15. Ryller I will check. The show title is still NNN but yes signing off differently.

Hotel Babylon is part of a chunk of programming next in line, assuming 9 sticks to plan.

  16. David,
Any word from nine in regards to series 2 of Hotel Babylon and when they might air it? Surely they aren’t saving it up only for the HD channel?

  17. hey dave, love your site!!

quick question since you’re in the know – any ideas why all the reporters on National Nine News are now signing off with “Nine News” ? i.e. “Peter Harvey, Nine News”

    sounds so weird!

  18. On Saturday there was a Radio National report that Mythbusters is filmed in Sydney.

    Is this true?

I knew there was Australian involvement in the show but I didn’t realise they were pretending Sydney was actually San Francisco. Where do they get all the left-hand drive cars from?

  19. David, I love your site, and I don’t intend this post to be at all insulting or critical, but I personally, I think there’s a little too liberal use of the “Read More” links.

Now I totally understand the need to provide excerpts on the home page, and it’s great when you embed press releases in them, but some posts just have one or two more paragraphs in their “read more”. Some are clipped mid-paragraph. Surely a few more paragraphs on the home page would make it load that much longer, right?

It’s really kinda annoying loading that additional page just to get access to those two more paragraphs (and I haven’t considered those broadband-impaired viewers as well.)

Of course if you have your reasons, I totally respect that.

  20. Hi Josh, nope, only bad storytelling or poor ideas bores me! And besides somebody has to hold networks to account, lol.

No word on Pushing Daisies, but as Nine gave it an early promo I can’t imagine they will hold off too long. It was affected by the strike, so no doubt that is a factor.

No word one way or the other on Chuck.
