Unhappy Baby John

With news that Wheel of Fortune is heading back to television, former host ‘Baby’ John Burgess is disappointed he wasn’t offered the gig.

Burgo told 3MP radio listeners Nine had previously promised it to him, a “couple of years ago.”

“I was told ‘Burgo, if we get hold of it, you’ll be doing it.’ Well they’ve forgotten about me. Tim Campbell’s doing it and I’m sure he’ll do a terrific job, but I must admit I am just slightly gutted” he said, before playing Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My Heart.

Alas in this biz, the people who promised to him have very possibly moved on, or there are new bosses over their heads.

  1. Bleugh. Between him and Tim, I can’t decide. They’re both awful on different levels. Honestly, do people STILL want to watch Wheel or Fortune? :/

  2. First Ray Martin and now John Burgess lamenting lost opportunities on TV in 2008.. Just because they were on TV for 20 years doesn’t mean they have an instant right to still be on TV now

  3. Why do people like John Burgess and Bert Newton think that audiences want to see them on TV until the end of time ? Don’t they realise that it’s better to go out with a bang than with a wimper ?
