Nine cuts and blows reality series

Channel 9 is believed to have dropped plans to produce the local reality series, Million Dollar Salon.

Despite holding auditions last month, the crew were told this week of the show’s demise.

Celebrity stylists Renya Xydis and Joh Bailey were to judge 12 contestants vying to win their own business.

A Nine spokeswoman said the series “was always dependant on the talent to go ahead,” but would not be drawn on whether other factors, such as poor responses for The Chopping Block, Monster House and Power of Ten contributed.

The series had promised ‘styling, laughing, bitching, crying and cutting’, with customers able to help decide the outcome.

In the US Aussie hairdresser Tabatha Coffey is proceeding with her own Bravo TV series, also giving hairdressers their fifteen minutes of fame.

Of course had the local show been titled Thousand Dollar Salon maybe it would still be proceeding.
