American Idol finale to air live in Oz

Here’s some great news for die-hard fans of American Idol.

For the first time ever, the finale at the Nokia Theatre will be seen live to air in Australia, simultaneously with the US.

FOX8 will screen at 10am on Thursday May 22 and is followed by an encore screening in the evening at 7:30pm.

Foxtel has previously screened live broadcasts of several award shows including the Golden Globes, Emmys, Screen Actors Guild awards, American Music Awards and the Tonys.

In an Australian-first, FOXTEL today announced it will broadcast the AMERICAN IDOL FINALE LIVE from Los Angeles to Australia, Thursday May 22 at 10.00am AEST, on FOX8.

FOX8 will also present an encore screening that evening at 7.30pm AEST.

The AMERICAN IDOL finale week coverage begins on Wednesday May 21 at 7.30pm AEST on FOX8, as the two remaining finalists duel it out in front of 7000 people at the NOKIA THEATRE L.A. and the television audience of millions around the world.

Then, on Thursday May 22 at 10.00am AEST, FOX8 will cross LIVE to L.A. as, for the first time ever, Australian viewers will have the opportunity to watch the AMERICAN IDOL FINALE concurrently with U.S. viewers. This two hour musical celebration will culminate with host RYAN SEACREST announcing the name of the seventh AMERICAN IDOL.
