Newsreader’s son killed in plane crash

Matt Naylor, the son of former GTV9 newsreader, Brian Naylor (pictured), was killed in an ultra-light aircraft crash yesterday.

Naylor, 40 of Kinglake West, was travelling in a two seater aircraft, which came down in trees on private property at Kinglake West, north of Melbourne about about 4pm AEST.

He is believed to have died at the scene.

The pilot is being treated in the Alfred Hospital, for a fractured skull, broken pelvis, broken legs and internal injuries.

National Nine News tonight confirmed the death, sadly opening the news story referring to “the man who once occupied this chair” as receiving tragic news last night.

“Since retiring Brian Naylor and his wife Moiree have been able to spend more time with their children and grandchildren,” said Nine News. Matt was the youngest of 3 sons.

“All [Matt] cared about was his family and his kids,” said a local.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

“He was a good bloke and well respected in the community,” added another local resident.
