Ray: the autobiography

Ray Martin has signed a deal with Random House to publish his autobiography for Christmas 2009. Random did not disclose how much the deal was worth.

“Australians know the public face of Ray Martin, the reporter and presenter, but many don’t know about his early life before the camera nor the behind-the-scenes details of his television career,” said deputy publishing director Nikki Christer,

“Ray Martin is one of the best known and admired journalists this country has ever produced and I’m proud to be able to bring his memoir to readers.”

Martin’s career began with the ABC in 1969, before joining the Nine Network in 1978 at 60 Minutes.

He quit the Nine Network in February this year to focus on his family and a number of book projects.

“It’s been a colourful, crowded journey,” Martin said. “A million miles, a hundred countries and a thousand stories.

“I’m looking forward to getting it written and I’m pleased to be working with Nikki and the team at Random House.”

  1. It will most defiantly be a cross between Underbelly, Sex In the City, Magnum P.I with a sprinkle of Matlock.

I heard Ray was asking De’Niro to play him in the movie.

  2. Ray ray ray – I can only imagine what self indulgence this is going to be!

How he was the face of TV interviewing, how – insert who ever was running Channel Nine at that point in time name here- promised him his own chat show but to only be overlooked, how he saved ACA etc etc.
