Returning: Monk

Well it’s not the best timeslot, but at least it’s back.

Monk will return to TEN on the HD channel from Monday June 23. It screens at 11:30pm following Friday Night Lights (now twice a week).

The critically-appraised series returns with new episodes beginning with “Mr Monk and the Actor” the first ep of the fifth series. It aired in the US in July 2006.

This episode guest stars Stanley Tucci (ER) who won an Emmy for his performance as an obsessive method actor cast as Adrian Monk in a new movie! Peter Weller (Robocop, 24) also appears.

Tony Shalhoub of course has a string of awards for his performance as the skightly askew detective. Emmys, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guilds and the National Society of Film Critics.

This ep sounds like it’s really worth catching!

  1. I gave up during season 3. Once they dumped Bitty Schram they also dumped the much-important Monk/Sharona dynamic, which was basically the heart of the series, and made the series rewatchable.

The fact that they replaced her with yet ANOTHER single mother character just shows that Monk is just another derivative crime show with no heart.

They’ve also replaced Monk’s dead wife Trudy, originally played by Stellina Rusich with Melora Hardin (of The US Office fame), which hurts the credibility and believability of the show IMO. :/

  2. I gave up on ten 2 years ago. Now I just download them and burn them to a disk when I have all 16 episodes.

Not to mention the fact that I can’t get ten HD either.

  3. I’ve lost track of Monk since 10 dumped it off the main channel a couple of years ago, I know it’s been on TV1 but I don’t have to time to see it and it’s been lost with all the other shows out there.

Guess I’ll catch up one day, maybe buy the DVDs.

We don’t we 10HD here in the Widebay either so it’s even more annoying when shows get dumped there!

  4. I love Monk but have long since given up on TEN and resigned myself to downloading or buying the DVDs. As I don’t get HD nothing much has changed:(
