Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester has formally pleaded not guilty to welfare fraud charges in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court today.
The 39yo faces 23 charges of receiving the single parent payment from Centrelink when she knew she was not eligible between December 2001 and December 2005.
Her lawyer told the court she was “formally” entering a not guilty plea, which would enable him to gain access to the prosecution brief.
Rochester’s appearance follows an adjournment of the case last month when her solicitor told the court he understood his client was “overseas”, believed to be holidaying in Fiji.
The case will return again in the same court on September 9. Rochester is excused from attending court on that date if she is legally represented.
