ACA looks for Adelaide host

Adelaide presenter Leigh McClusky has turned down an offer to host the state-based version of A Current Affair to be produced by WIN. She was presenter of Today Tonight South Australia from 1995 to mid-2007.

“We’ve had a number of discussions over a couple of months,” Leigh said this week. “I was flattered but ACA, like Today Tonight, is a style of program I’ve done.

“That’s not to rule out doing something else in TV one day.

“But I did that kind of thing for 12 years and it’s now time to move on to something different, a different challenge.

“It’s not something that suits where I am at the moment.”

Leigh, who has just started her own media consultancy business, McClusky and Co, said whoever got the ACA hosting gig would have a big job ahead.

“Today Tonight are in a very commanding position,” she said. “But nothing is guaranteed and there is nothing more vulnerable than when you’re in the lead.”

Adelaide’s current TT host Rosanna Mangiarelli takes maternity leave at the end of the year. It’s likely regular fill-in Paul Makin will take her place.
