Waltz King Andre Rieu will chat with Michael Veitch on Sunday Arts, and here's some extra details on the pay per view concert coming in November.

Get ready to be bombarded with a whole lot more Andre Rieu as he returns to Australia in November.

The Dutch violinist and ‘King of the Waltz’ can be seen for free on the ABC’s Sunday Arts this month, and you can catch the whole Aussie concert on pay-per-view on Main Event.

Andre Riéu is a Dutch violinist and a conductor who has enjoyed enormous success, particularly in Australia where he has sold over a million recordings. Last year after his first visit to Australia, Riéu had a record nine DVDs in the top 10 ARIA DVD chart. His live performances are quite extravagant and include his Strauss Orchestra and Choir, the Platinum Tenors, dancers from the Vienna State Opera Ballet, and the Vienna Figure Skating Association. Riéu will be undertaking an Australian tour covering Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth from November 15 to December 4. He will also be guest-editing the November edition of Limelight
Sunday Arts 5pm Sunday October 12.

FOXTEL will broadcast one of the concert events of the year when it telecasts André Rieu’s ‘World Stadium Tour – A Romantic Vienna Night’ LIVE to subscribers across Australia on Saturday, November 15.

Experience the spectacular sights and sounds as the celebrated Dutch violinist and conductor brings the world’s biggest transportable stage show to Australia for the first time ever in November and December.

FOXTEL’s MAIN EVENT channel will televise Rieu’s performance LIVE from Melbourne’s Telstra Dome on Saturday, November 15 from 8.00pm (AEDT). The pay-per-view concert will cost $24.95 (inc GST) and will be available direct to residential FOXTEL, AUSTAR and Optus subscribers.

Rieu said: “This spectacular show that I am bringing to Australia is the biggest thing I’ve ever done.

“I want everyone to come and enjoy it in Melbourne and in all of the cities, but for my fans to be able to also share the opening night with us in their own homes is just wonderful.”

Rieu has revitalised classical music for audiences of all ages and his live shows are widely acclaimed as astonishing events.

The staging for ‘A Romantic Vienna Night’ includes:

* a full size reproduction of Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace
* a 600m² ice rink
* a horse-drawn golden carriage

The touring party includes 250 performers:

* The Johann Strauss Orchestra and Choir
* The Platinum Tenors
* The Vienna State Opera Ballet
* The Vienna Figure Skating Association
* And, of course, Rieu and his 1667 Stradivarius violin.

The exclusive MAIN EVENT pay-per-view will air LIVE on Saturday, November 15 from 8.00pm (AEDT).

  2. I am a 65 yr old Invalid pensioner and would like to watch Andre Rieu on Sunday Arts. Can anyone tell me exactly when he is going to be appearing please.
    Not having Foxtel,Auzstar or any pay TV to watch the main event.
    It would be wonderful to see the show.
