Idol lawsuit for Cosima

Former managers of Cosima de Vito are seeking more than $500,000 in lost earnings.

Former Australian Idol singer Cosima De Vito is set to face her two former managers in the NSW Supreme Court next month.

Following a long-running dispute with ex-managers Ted Gardner and Con Nellis, including three years of court appointed mediation, a date of November 10 has been given for the matter to be heard.

The Daily Telegraph reports Nellis and Gardner, who managed De Vito’s career after the first Idol series in 2003, are said to be seeking more than $500,000 in lost earnings.

Their lawsuit will allege that the singer made their professional roles “untenable”.

De Vito has previously lodged a counter claim, stating that the management team was “negligent” in guiding her singing career.

  1. Cosima was terrible. Another no-talent churned out by the Idol factory. How can they possibly assume she would have made them $500 000?? It seems a bit of a stretch…..However I’m sure ACA or TT will feature her story for a price.

  2. She actually had a #1 solo single in 2004 and a top 10 album (both released independently on her own label), so it’s a bit unfair to say that she didn’t have a singing career. Credit where credit’s due.

  3. She had her 5 minutes of fame back in 2003,and lets see how long it takes one of the weekly womans mags to buy her story. And she will get her next 5 minutes of fame.
