Kellie bids high five to Hi-5

With the exit of Kellie Crawford next month, just one original Hi-5 member remains.

Another original member of Hi-5 is bowing out.

Kellie Crawford is quitting the group after 10 years to pursue an acting career.

Crawford, 34, said she has been thinking of leaving for the past year and had decided Christmas Eve carols  would be the right time for her swansong.

“I’m getting older and I just wanted to try and do as much as I can with my life because I can’t be a kids’ performer for my whole life,” she told AAP.

“I guess I just wanted to open more doors so when I eventually do have kids I have stability, and I’ve got a job I can continue to do with that as well.”

Her departure leaves just one original member, ex-fiance Nathan Foley.

Charli Delaney recently quit the troupe for more adult ventures, which have included Battle of the Choirs and Dancing with the Stars. Last night Delaney was sent packing from the Seven reality show.

  1. I’ve just taken the family to see the Hi-5 Playtime arena show at Rod Laver Arena, (which was wonderful) and I’ve got to say that the new cast members of Stevie Nicholson, Casey Burgess and Sun Park are incredibly talented.

There’s no doubt in my mind that if they choose the two new cast members very carefully, then the “new” Hi-5 is still going to be a worldwide success for many years to come. Hi-5 is changing, not saying goodbye.

  2. Seems like the Hi-5 bubble is bursting quicker than any of us could ever have imagined. But at least Kellie has chosen a dignified exit – it would have to be at Carols By Candlelight.

Kuttyswood, you mentioned the idea of a hi-5 reunion for Carols By Candlelight. Well, how about a special hour-length live show as the pre-Carols show (like at the 2001 and 2002 appearances they made there) and call this one “Hi-5 Say Goodbye To All That” featuring all the past and present members and excerpts from some of the shows finest output. Good idea.

  3. But seriously David, I would actually want to see a reunion of the original Hi-5 at this years Melbourne carols as the farewell Tim,Charli and Kelli deserve. Kathleen got a great farewell, why didn’t the other three? Imagine this, Stevie,Sun and whoever replaced Charli come out and make a surprise announcement and then the original Hi-5 come out and perform “Santa Claus Is Coming” and then the group bows to the crowd at the end… Now that would be a farewell people will remember.
