Britain stumped on Wallace & Gromit leak

Britain can't work out how Wallace & Gromit was leaked to the internet when it doesn't screen there until Xmas. Little do they realise Australia scooped them.

The poor ol’ Brits can’t figure out how Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death has been leaked on YouTube before it has screened in the UK. Aardman Animations says it has “no idea” how the material (apparently) slipped out.

Maybe somebody should tell them it screened in Australia weeks ago -ahead of the UK screening due to air on the BBC on Xmas Day.

It’s not the first time the ABC has managed to scoop Britain on their own shows. Wire in the Blood’s last series also aired in Australia before Britain.

Thankfully Aardman has reacted quickly to the leakand had the clips, which amounted to nearly its entire 30 minutes, removed from the site.

While nobody is pointing fingers at where the leak began, the Nick Park comedy is already on torrent sites complete with an ABC watermark.

  1. …While the ABC have snagged this, there are other countless shows from the BBC etc which they have taken years to screen. I wonder if some office intern accidentally mixed up some paper work as it does seem odd that this xmas special was screened here almost a month before it’s UK xmas telly debut. UK xmas telly shows are usually the jewels in the ratings crown.

…if only the ABC had done the same for the new Royale Family Xmas episode, due to screen xmas day in the UK.

  2. I’m glad they managed to rival (exceed) the timing of some UK broadcasts.

But why does ABC take a ridiculous 6 months or more to broadcast Doctor Who episodes after their UK screenings?
And what about the ‘Life on Mars’ sequel, ‘Ashes to Ashes’….No sign of that here and it’s almost a year later!

To me those series are of far more immediate interest than a one-off animated special.
