Australia’s XYZ Networks has picked up the rights to the Brit Awards, the UK’s ultimate pop music trophies.
The 2009 event takes place in the UK on February 18 with hosts James Corden, Mathew Horne and Kylie Minogue.
Australian nominees include Gabriella Cilmi and AC/DC.
Performers include Take That join U2, Kings of Leon, Duffy, Girls Aloud and The Pet Shop Boys, who will receive an Outstanding Contribution to Music.
It will air on Channel [V] 7:30pm Thursday February 26th.

Why acquire the rights and then show it a week late? It will be old news by then. I would have thought V could do with the publicity it brings.
Perhaps it’s time for a new headline – FoxtelDate.
And how sad that the only award shows left on FTA are the pathetic Australian attempts (though I’m excluding the iF Awards from that, as they’re still capable of being interesting. Foxtel, take the AFIs. Please.)
