Gone: America’s Next Top Model, Army Wives

It's a bad day for shows that have already aired on Pay TV as TEN drops Tyra Banks and her model proteges.

Updated: TEN shifts ANTM to a late night slot.

Channel TEN has dropped America’s Next Top Model from its schedule effective immediately.

The reality series was airing on Sunday and Monday nights. It will replace it with a movie on Sunday night (which also bumps Don’t Forget the Lyrics out for the night).

On Sunday the show managed just 403,000 viewers.

Monday nights it will be replaced by repeats of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?

TEN also drops Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Army Wives from its Monday line-up next week.

Sunday January 11
6:30pm Sunday Night Movie – Aquamarine
8:35pm Sunday Night Movie – Die Hard With A Vengeance
11:10pm The Daily Show With Jon Stewart – Global Edition
11:40pm The Office
12:10am Cops
12:40am Video Hits Up-Late
1:00am Home Shopping

Monday January 12
7:30pm Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader
8:30pm Monday Night Movie – Double Jeopardy
10:40pm Out Of The Blue
11:10pm TEN Late News With Sports Tonight
11:55pm The Late Show With David Letterman
12:55am Video Hits Up-Late
1:00am Home Shopping

Criminal Intent repeats remain in place Thursday nights at 9:30pm.

The dropping of ANTM, which has already screened on FOX8, is the second “Pay to FTA” show to be dropped this week. Maybe it’s time to stop scheduling shows that have already aired on subscription TV?

  1. Well the very first time around 5th Grader did well enough, holding out above 1mil. Maybe it should be trialled in the 7:30 Wednesday timeslot again.

  2. awwwwwwwwwwwwww no more ANTM 🙁

I cannot belive ch 10 thinks 5th grader is a good replacement option as it was so painful and loooong the first time round. If any show needs to be made shorter – this is it!! We need to scale back on Rove not give him more exposure me thinks.

I’m not hi-tech enough to figure out downloading – I always think I am going to be made the scapegoat of illegal downloads!! (bit far fetched I know).

  3. So what, 10 are now screening no new shows? Army Wives was great. I knew I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it for too much longer. All the networks started off so well with their Summer line-ups and then they just so ahead and completely f**k it up. All the Summer shows probably won’t be seen again until next Summer.

  4. as i usually do i am going to take the networks side in this canning.

i know its sad, but there’s only so much that 10 can sacrifice for its viewers. i would have done exactly the same if i were the programmer, was expecting this a few weeks back. instead of criticizing people should be thankful that they have been on this long.

if it works out ten will go home with more money that can be spent on making new shows and making their existing shows better. so at the end of the day it could benefit the viewers.

  5. I was looking forward to seeing the girls come to Australia. Surely Channel 10 could have drawn some viewers from something like that.

It is the non-ratings period! Channel 10 are just ensuring continued ratings doom this year. If they can’t stick with a schedule during the non-ratings period, they have no hope.

They could have at least replaced it with something interesting. “Are you smarter than a fifth grader?” repeats are not appealing at all.

I really hate Channel 10, I definitely won’t be watching any of their “event television” this year.

  6. No. I loved ANTM. I thought that it was rating really well at first.

I still want to see the rest of the cycle, its a pity they can’t show late on a FridaySatruday night.

  7. Some of the time FTA deserves this kind of criticism, but there are other times when the viewers need to accept their programming decisions. Top Model, Lyrics, Army Wives were getting under half a million – how could you possibly justify keeping them on FTA television?

  8. And didn’t ten just add another episode of Model to the schedule last night???

In terms of momentum moving into the new ratings season, ten are looking worse than where they were in the back half of 08. They will be preying Dance and Loser will fire again, if they dont then their entire schedule is f#@ked

  9. Whether you like this move or not the numbers that Top Model was getting were embarrasing so this cut had to come. Also cleaning out Mondays and putting on Movies is the best way for Ten to clear the deck on this wretched night.

Their reality shows occupy these two nights from Feb so there’s little point in keeping anything around if it’s not performing well.

If you’re after old eps of Top Model there’s a dude on YouTube who puts em up (wmy wife missed a week of an earlier season and I was able to find it on this guy’s channel) just search for ANTM you’ll find it pretty quickly)

  10. Not a fan of either of these shows, so not sad to see them go. It is probably a good thing that the CI repeats have been scaled back though. Last week it was on 3 times a week and now its been edited to 1 time a week.

  11. 2009 has started for FTA!, Picking up where they left off.. Axing shows!. One can only imagine what kind of joke is coming up around the corner when FreeView comes into Effect. Whats the point of FreeView when the FTA Channel bring in the same garbage thats been repeated a million times on FTA!

  12. I’ve enjoyed watching that mumbling chick with the short hair (with subtitles, no less!) on ANTM, but what I’m annoyed about most is that I’ll have to watch The Office even later than I have been….grr..

Yeah, I don’t understand why they stuff up schedules during non-ratings either. Non-ratings is usually a great time of year to catch new stuff.

  13. So that’s it? No more episodes of Top Model? How are we supposed to find out what happens with the remainder of the season? There’s still 8 models remaining and I don’t just want to look the season up to find out who wins I actually want to watch the rest of the season. I don’t see why they couldn’t just move it to a mid-day timeslot so the die-hard fans could at least finish watching the season!

  14. I told myself to take a risk and watch Army Wives. So I did. I like it. It’s gone!!

I feel angry. I shouldn’t. I should have remembered the disappearance of other shows I liked.

  15. What Army Wives. that was by far the best new show to air over summer. that is soo annoying. is there any word on whether it will be moving to another time slot. But why would Ten do this it is no ratings, it doesnt matter

  16. What the effity eff!!!

Even though it is an old cycle and I know the winner I haven’t seen this one before. This is truly one of the funniest shows out there.

  17. What!!?? Non-ratings or not, our household was enjoying this season of ANTM! Surely just get through the season….no Network will have “momentum” leading into ratings so what does it matter!?

  18. I’m not a fan of this one, but that’s four hundred thousand pissed-off viewers right there. Good going Ten. ISPs must love your work.

Seeing “Gone” in a TV Tonight RSS feed every second day makes following FTA TV feel like reading the death notices sometimes 🙂
