Life. Imagine. Leaked. Seriously.

Have TEN's new station promos been leaked on YouTube or is it just sneaky viral marketing?

water-sunIt’s been a week for debating viral videos. What’s fake? What’s real? What’s a deliberate marketing ploy?

Now YouTube has two videos of  new TEN station IDs.

Featuring several network personalities and actors, they are built around the theme of “Life. Imagine. Seriously.”

Natalie Bassingthwaighte is filmed in old Hollywood style, Paul McDermott is catching up on the latest newspaper stories and Rove McManus is meandering down the streets of Melbourne.

They are less “wow” and more thoughtful in tone. One is even backed with piano and strings, demonstrating a maturer start to the year.

TEN kicks off its 2009 shows from Sunday.

Do we like?

  1. Have to admit, million times better than the rubbish they have had over the past few years. Not overly keen on either song choice mainly song one. Song two isn’t lively enough.
@Daniel: Your right, they have mainly used their early year backbone shows in the promo, so it will need an overhaul come April, and it only shows Australian actors/hosts. Hope they have new commercial bumpers and music when leading to the commercials though. Sick of seeing actors just standing there with bad music or pressing the TEN button mid screen.
Well done Ten promo department. If only the programmers were as good as you.

  2. wow… how good does that look. It doesn’t really feel like TEN though. Feels like a very mature network. TEN – all grown up.

    great work guys,
    really proud 🙂

  3. i would think with something like this that the promos reflect the current on air line up…or the about to launched…they will no doubt update and keep them fresh during the year, I have alwys thought TENS promos were excellent…i especially enjoyed the seriously from last year…but these look classy and mature…well done guys and girls…i like them and sure the greater public (and not those on here that have a “interest” in any particular network) will too….

  4. I think they’re both dreadful and highly inappropriate for Network Ten. The second one especially is just so pathetically cheesy and over-the-top. A far cry from the one’s the used a few years ago featuring Steppenwolf’s Magic Carpet Ride.

  5. Minimalism is one of the things I like about 10s presentation. Their best station ID for me so far is the one from 2003? that used the Coldplay song Don’t Panic.

  6. Pretty snazzy – a lot further upmarket from the previous spots.

Ten had only 3% less advertising revenue than Nine in the last half of 2008. Could they catch up?

  7. given there have been recent attempts at viral marketing campaigns from a clothing store and the Qld Tourism search for a blogger contest.. i would not be surprised if these clips are ‘leaked’ from the networks themselves.to generate some buzz around the place as viral seems to be the hot trick in marketing right now

  8. R, I think you’ll find that’s called minimalism. Better then the large garish fonts and backgrounds, crappy music of years gone by. But yeah only using Rove, Dance, Loser and GNW as the entire backbone? Hmm

  9. Very artistic and I agree something a little more classy and almost meaningful from TEN. TEN’s ads and on-air presenation have always been miles better than Seven’s or Nine’s. Thumbs up!

  10. wow… TEN has really made a massive leap towards becoming a more mature network… Its probably due to the fact that they dont have their Big Brother franchise, with all the controversies they caused.. The promo’s look really good though!

I wonder how they were leaked??
