Life. Imagine. Leaked. Seriously.

Have TEN's new station promos been leaked on YouTube or is it just sneaky viral marketing?

water-sunIt’s been a week for debating viral videos. What’s fake? What’s real? What’s a deliberate marketing ploy?

Now YouTube has two videos of  new TEN station IDs.

Featuring several network personalities and actors, they are built around the theme of “Life. Imagine. Seriously.”

Natalie Bassingthwaighte is filmed in old Hollywood style, Paul McDermott is catching up on the latest newspaper stories and Rove McManus is meandering down the streets of Melbourne.

They are less “wow” and more thoughtful in tone. One is even backed with piano and strings, demonstrating a maturer start to the year.

TEN kicks off its 2009 shows from Sunday.

Do we like?

  1. Wow these are so not channel ten. They are interesting though. Unlike many people on this page, I really like the ‘seriously’ slogan.

I agree with RichoTB that they promos were the best when they ran up to the screen and either push a blue or a yellow button.

  2. I absolutley love them. knoxoverstreet is right that they do have a very polished feel, although still distinctly Network TEN with the people diving in the water. Reminds me of some of their Summer idents, although I like these much, much more.

Hopefully they bring with them a whole new feel for the network, including Bottom Third idents (currently three yellow bars with white bars showing what’s on next and later etc.) as well as the Tonight on TEN bits.

It would please me even more if the new look and feel, translated into a different view of programming moves, in other words providing a more robust schedule which is less likely to change after one ep.

PS I like the new slogan/s. I once again feel proud to watch Network TEN.

  3. They’re very mature for channel ten. I agree with Richo TB that the ones where the celebs push the button was the best one. I doubt that this was “leaked” onto the internet. The quality is so good for a youtube video and channel ten would have taken it off by now if they were illegal. I’m surprised that channel ten did something like this – I would have thought these belonged to nine or sbs. The ‘Good Loving'” promo by channel seven are quite well done, but it’s obvious that not a lot of money was spent on channel seven’s promos. I do like the cartoon TV used in seven’s promos though.

These promos of ten are quite good, however not that exciting. Seriously.

  4. actually i really like them.. im just not sure they’re a ch10 ident. in fact im not really sure if they’re even australian idents. they feel like they’ve be at hom eon the uk’s ch4 or bbc – even ch5. Still i’d love to see the abc or sbs roll out really well produced ‘star idents’ that didnt totally suck.

  5. Incredible! I think the new ten promo’s are brilliant. I especially liked the second one, with the slower music – yeh it’s a very different approach by ten to their usual promos, a lot more subtle, a lot less energy, but I think it’s a beautiful promo and one that will really appeal to a wider audience – and if you look at ten’s programming this year which, on face value, looks like ten is trying to appeal to a wider audience, I think the new promos are in line with that. I agree with J-Bar and Tepee – ten’s promos have always been far better than 9’s and 7’s. Would be interesting to see if any of the actors from ten’s international shows will make it into the promos though – they managed to do it pretty well last year with the guys from Supernatural.

  6. itsross, the guy at 0:31 is Dr Chris Brown from Bondi Vet which starts on Thursday 5th Feb at 8pm. He use to be on Today Show, Burkes Backyard and Talk To The Animals

  7. first one was good, second one seems a bit bland to me. I actually like the old ten promos of someone just pushing a button with funky music playing in the background.

  8. I think they look absolutely brilliant. Better than the Good Lovin’ promo from Seven this year and probably better than most of the promos we’ve seen from all the networks in recent years.
World Class Promos. In fact better than most of the promos I’ve seen from overeas too. Good to see the focus on Australian programming and they didn’t forget Neighbours this time, which is always a solid performer for them.

  9. Damn you Ten! I used to like that Lupe Fiasco song (and I still do), but I’m sure you’re about to ruin it for me by playing it 153 times a day.

“We live in a beautiful world. Yes we, do yes, we do”. Yeah I used to like that song too.
