ABC opera lands Rose D’Or nomination

ABC's eccentric opera The Eternity Man is the only Australian television production to win a nomination in the prestigious Rose D'Or Awards.

eternity43Just one entry from Australia has made it onto the nominee list in the prestigious Rose D’Or Awards for international television: the ABC’s The Eternity Man.

The lavish operatic film based on the life of Arthur Stace, who famously chalked the word “Eternity” across the streets of Sydney, aired in January. It will compete for the Performing Arts television award alongside Jools Holland from the UK, Nick Cave specials also from the UK, and a La Traviata production.

The Rose D’Or Awards, which have been awarded in Switerland since 1961, are highly regarded in the television industry. Last year The Chaser’s War on Everything and The Librarians, also from the ABC, were nominated -but neither won.
