Better Homes & Gardens presenter Jason Hodges’ show garden was awarded Gold at the 2009 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show yesterday.

Hodges’ interactive, liveable garden, which features an outdoor timber deck, basketball court and veggie patch, was one of three winners in the ‘Gold Show Garden MIFGS 2009’ category.

An elated Hodges said: “I didn’t think I was going to win. I cried like a baby. I love being the cheeky landscaping bloke on Better Homes, but I’m also a landscape designer and a businessman and it’s great to be recognised for what I do when I’m not doing TV.”

He attributes the win to his garden’s versatility: “It’s a garden the whole family use… there’s something for everyone.”

Last year Jamie Durie won Gold at the Chelsea Flower Show.

This Friday’s episode of Better Homes & Gardens will look at how Hodges and the team created his award-winning garden.

It airs 7:30pm Friday on Seven.

  1. You have lost me as a viewer, as from Friday’s show. Johanna Griggs’ interview with the “first lady” was appalling and offensive, and shows the low IQ of the producers. Not only was the term in the promos, but was repeated several times during the segment. Top marks to Therese Rein for trying to get the message through that we do not have such a role in Australia, but it was completely ignored by the people involved for putting that segment together. Johanna Griggs, seemed to be overawed by the whole thing and certainly looked quite out of her depth

  2. Im a huge Fan of Jason Hodges and was surprized to read the artical on him in ‘new idea magazine’ about his new love Vanessa Partridge… And how fast his realationship with her was and a baby on the way !
    A friend of a friend knows her and told me a few things about her. wow!
