The US Postal Service has announced The Simpsons are getting their own stamps.
Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will all feature on the five 44 cent stamps. It is the first ongoing prime time show to be given its own series of stamps.
“The Simpsons are American icons, quite frankly,” United States Postal Services spokesman Mark Saunders said.
“We’re excited about it, and we think America will be, too. It’s a great opportunity for us to reach a new generation of stamp enthusiasts.”
A date has yet to be announced as to when the stamps will go on general sale.

No. Australia’s had plenty of TV show stamps over the years.
I’m pretty sure the ABC released a series of ABC Kids stamps several years ago, featuring characters from Bananas in Pyjamas, Play School, Mr. Squiggle and the like. And correct me if I’m wrong, but Kath & Kim stamps were also available at some point.
I’m surprised… I would have thought the Simpsons would have had been on stamps already… and is it really the first TV show??… have any Australian TV shows been on stamps?? I know we’re mad for a sports star, but any TV ones??
Not the first TV show. Look closer Lenny…
The BBC story is dated april 1st. and a quick search of usps.com for simpsons comes up empty. Are we sure this is real
It’s on Hollywood Reporter too. Not much of an April Fool’s if it is….
WTF? I already have some Simpsons postage stamps on me… :-/
Now we can Lick Bart’s Shorts LOL
No doubt the stamps will be brilliant for several years before jumping the shark and ending up tired, predictable and unfunny.
