TEN appoints new online chief

TEN appoints former NineMSN boss Nick Spooner as its new chief digital media officer.

ten_siteNetwork TEN has announced former NineMSN chief operating officer Nick Spooner will become its new chief digital media officer following the sudden resignation of Damien Smith.

Spooner will be responsibile for managing all of TEN’s digital media operations: online, mobile and related digital media.

CEO Grant Blackley said: “We welcome Nick’s extensive online management and operational experience, gained in Australia, New Zealand and the UK as we take our digital media offerings to the next level.”

We note the recent announcement regarding a national broadband network, and we will be closely appraising opportunities to fully utilise Network TEN’s many broadcast and content assets – across both our TEN and ONE channels – as well as broader business development opportunities that we believe will add to our digital media capabilities and offering,” he said.

“Network TEN has taken a distinct approach in digital media, based on our own unique content. We have launched highly successful digital extensions of our key brand franchises, most notably for Australian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance Australia and The Biggest Loser, achieving impressive traffic growth and creating strong levels of user engagement.”

Mr Blackley said Mr Smith had decided to leave TEN after almost three years.

  1. The day TEN can get deals to get at least 90% of its shows available online I will be in heaven. TEN and SBS have always been my favorites for online content, hopefully TEN will be able to keep it up. They have a very successful online model right now.
