Eurovision: The Finalists

And here is the running list of songs for tonight's Final to be hosted by two new hosts, Alsou and Ivan.

002_3619Countries to proceed from the second Semi Final to ‘tonight’s’ Eurovision Final include:

Azerbaijan, Croatia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Albania, Moldova, Denmark, Estonia, Norway and Greece.

The results for the second semi leaned heavily towards Eastern European countries. For a minute there it looked like two favourites, Norway and Greece, might miss out altogether.

Missing out from SF2 were Ireland, Latvia, Serbia, Poland, Cyprus, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, and The Netherlands.

Tonight there are two new hosts for the Final, Russian singer Alsou who came second in 2000 and actor and ‘media personality’ Ivan Urgant. Can’t hardly wait for that one.

We will also get to see the entries from the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Russia.

  1. David did you catch any of the “Countdown to Eurovision” shows on SBS? I had taped them but didn’t see them until yesterday (never want to see the songs before the show.. keep that element of surprise, you know).. I thought it was a great way to cover each country’s entries and gave a bit of background on the countries’ involvement with ESC and also took an affectionate swipe at some of the show’s quirkier moments that we might love or love-to-hate (fashions, stilted English, blunders, bloc voting). It looked like it was a eurovision.tv production so hopefully this will be an ongoing program for future ESCs.

  2. Yeah i got so sick of avoiding… well my whole life basically, so i looked up the winner. Last year i didn’t pick up the phone, didn’t go outside, didn’t watch tv, didn’t read the newspaper, didn’t go on the computer for the whole day. But when i went to do my assignment i quickly went on the net and there it was on my yahoo homepage “winner of eurovision’. Far out lol… so i just gave up and this year… i didn’t want to go to all that trouble again. But a massive thanks to TV Tonight for being spoiler free ;).

  3. it was a pity the result was announced on Ten news, without any spoiler… obviously they have no particular responsibility to forewarn the viewers, but it would have been nice if they said before the ad-break, ‘Eurovision Winner Announced’ or something like that so we had a subtle hint to stop watching. it is only SBS as well…

  4. I have to say that I was rather annoyed that Today on Sunday announced the winner of tonights show multiple times without any warning. Sort of disappointed that I know the winner before watching tonight’s show. But it’ll still be an excellent show.

  5. SBS are total morons! Fifteen minutes before Eurovision starts tonight, World News Australia runs a report on Eurovision and announces the winner…! Idiots! People will have been avoiding media all day to avoid spoilers, but will have been tuning into SBS in the lead up to the show starting, and that’s the news report they get.
